I'm guessing this is the spot to put dibs in on a game now? If not, please tell me where to haul my sorry butt to do so.
If it works, I'd like to be put in the queue for the original Kirby's Dream Land on Gameboy. |

Don't worry, you got the right place - you've been added to the queue.

Hey hey. I see nunix already got QFG 1-3, but I'll take 4. Maybe we could even keep the same character??

If you want to take 1-3 also (or not all of them, whichever), that's fine, especially if you want to start soon. I'm plunking away at my current LP, and don't know when I'll be interested in another.

I did have one crazy idea of splitting each game up between 3 players, one for each class. A chronicle of the Hero Brothers, if you will. |

I should probably submit now that, at some point in the future, I'd like to do a Legend of Kyrandia: Hand of Fate LP. Probably some time from now, of course, since I'm not even done with the LP for the first game. Still, good to set the claim now and get it put in the queue.

Whew.
Bahamut Lagoon's done, just as planned. Star Fox should be finishing up sometime tonight or tomorrow, so I guess my schedule's free enough to claim a few more. So... With those two done, I'd like to add The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Pokémon: Fire Red Version to my list of claims. I've already got screenshots done for both as far as I can (or should) go, so I'll be ready to start anytime after Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals and Final Fantasy IX finish up. So now that I have a computer again, I'ma go ahead and try this LP thinger one more time.
So! Seiken Densetsu 3 is the plan. Whenever is free is fine with me. I'd rather start it sooner rather than later, but I'll wait if the queue demands it. |

I should be ready with Deadly Towers soon, so you can put me in for whenever the next open spot is.
...which would appear to be February. ...well, I'll likely have Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom finished by then as well. Neat. |

There's a problem if someone wanting to run an LP in November has to wait until February to get started. |

This confusion keeps popping up though... I think I'll set a poll and sort it out once-and-for-all, let you guys decide which you want working better. |

1) Go back to the Wild West days of no rules, no guidelines, everyone has free reign to start as many LPs as they want and they all live and die on their own merits. 2) Get Parish to crown you official groundskeeper of the LP subforum, hammer the original rules back in place (2/wk) and prune any topics that get started out of turn, politely nudging their authors to the stickied rules thread. It's kind of a weird state of things where we apparently have to have rules, but the punishment for breaking them is just "oh well you already started so go ahead" while awesome prolific LPers like Octoprime sit on their next masterpiece for three months. |

Yeah, people who have successfully completed LPs should be given special treatment, as they are a boon to the forum. Perhaps there could be an optional second slot each week, but only for a proven LPer? That way someone from the young blood crowd gets a shot every week, but the star players don't have to wait three months to start a 4-hour game LP.

Wild West ways are out entirely - the big problem with the SA model is that even good LPs will get swept under the tide - and I'd rather avoid giving preferential treatment if I can so that newer guys don't feel as pressured to perform. I'm going to PM Parish to see if I can get some moderational power here though, since this is getting ridiculous.
In the meantime, the original queue model is going back in place. For those of you on the queue who want to move ahead, feel free to post with your preferred date here. |

I don't like Mike's idea of special rules for proven LPers. I don't think anyone should get special treatment. If we have to have rules, let's keep them simple: one set for everyone, easy to understand, easy to follow, easy to enforce. |

If we decide to do one last minute, though, is it really any big deal to jump in on late Monday if its a one-queued week? I'd like to do Mother 3 at some point (which I mentioned in the other thread and was summarily ignored).

As a reader of Let's Plays, that's just what I'd like to see. I get frustrated when there's a constant surge of new threads and only half of them ever get finished. But I'm not the only person out there reading, I'm just one of the louder ones - maybe someone else has an opinion?

Though if you're wondering about LPing new games, I like SA's approach to it - 6 months after the original release date for any game (rereleases don't count unless there are a large amount of changes). As such, a Mother 3 LP would be fine. Quote:

Works for me, as long as you guys don't mind. I could probably get the first chapter done tonight.

Just PM'd Parish right now, here's hoping he reacts favourably to it. Anyway, to the people on the queue: did you get my PM? I'm just checking to see if everyone got notified about the change.

Well, it's good the forum has an empowered moderator now. I still feel bad for queue-jumping like I did, not even realizing that there WAS a queue at the time. But I guess it ended up leading to this change in a roundabout way, so that's good. Congrats, PapillonReel!

Might as well have me go in for next week, too. Then we'll have a very good Zelda-clone and a mediocre one going side-by-side!
Try to guess which one's which. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. |

Maybe I'm being overly cautious about the special rules thing, but I've been in the position of having to moderate this kind of thing before and I've never seen it end well. It's always "well you've done two LPs and I've done six so I should get the special spot this week!" "yeah but your six were were bullshit games with four updates a piece and my two were for PSX RPGs that went on for months!". Then Comrade Reel has to step in and make a judgment call, and someone will have hurt feelings because he's obviously playing favorites... Talking Time is pretty immune to drama (thank god) but we have had small hiccups regarding this-guy's-LP-is-getting-lots-of-attention-why-isn't-mine. Easier to save everyone headaches by just having one solid set of rules we have to live by. |

Okay, since I don't have any high profile games to play right now I think I can step up the output and bring my Morrowind blog here as a normal LP. Before that though, I'm considering what to actually do with it. I could just continue that character here, but I think it would be more fun to start a new one and let all the major decisions on what to be and where to go to be decided here. Does that sound interesting to anyone?
